The fish was as big as the skiff!
In the book I beleive that I have spotted several things that I think are important. I think that the size of the fish will be a symbol. I also think that the bird, and the plane will become important, exspecially the plane.
an airplane passed overhead on its course to Miami
I think that this quote is important because I think that the plane will come into play again in some sort of way. In the section we just read we finally saw the fish and learned a rough estimation on how long it is. I think that Hemmingway did a good job at describing how big it was without overexagerating or underexagerating. I also think that the fact that his left hand has never helped him will come into play soon. He continues to talk about his past I don’t know if this is just to describe the man better or to give us an innuendo into what is going to happen and give us some background.

I don’t think the plane symbolizes anything important because it doesn’t have anything to do with the fishing and the old man. I don’t think it is going to come down and save the old man.
